Elizabeth Godar

Elizabeth Godar is a filmmaker and designer based in LA. Originally from St. Louis, she studied at Yale and spent several years working as a house designer, sculptor, and furniture designer in New York and LA. She has contributed to design work featured in New York Design Week, Architectural Digest France, The Hangzhou Triennial of Fiber Arts, The Cut, Curbed, and Milan Design Week, among others.

In production design, she's collaborated on films directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, Andrew Dominik, and Jordan Peele. She was Art Director on Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland and Production Designer on The Graduates by Hannah Peterson, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival.

As a writer-director, she is drawn to stories that live in emotional gray areas- often intimate, humanist portraits told through a highly visual lens. Her architectural training taught her to see space as a reflection of psyche: homes, landscapes, and interiors as messy extensions of people’s inner lives. That sensibility guides all of her filmmaking. Her short film Dear Maslow premiered at Slamdance 2022, and Hill Hikers was named a Vimeo Staff Pick.Elizabeth Godar is a filmmaker and designer based in LA.
